FIXED & REMOVABLE DENTURES
Partial dentures can be fixed or removable.
Fixed partial dentures include traditional dental bridges and implant supported bridges.
Removable partial dentures are held in place by several metal clasps and can be removed and re-inserted without professional assistance. This treatment solution works well for some, but not for all. Sometimes the desired or expected fit, support and stability simply leave a lot to be desired. (Biting and chewing can be to some extent compromised.) Second disadvantage is the occurrence of gradual bone resorption in the area where teeth are missing. Without the presence of natural roots, the jaw bone is likely to shrink, recede and become more fragile (which increases the possibility of jaw fracture).
